The Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Observability Trainer to join our team. As an IT & OT Observability Trainer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive training programs to educate our teams and stakeholders on Observability concepts, tools, and best practices. Your expertise in Observability technologies, coupled with your strong communication and presentation skills, will play a vital role in enabling APM Terminals to effectively monitor, analyse, and troubleshoot complex business systems. This role requires a passion for teaching, the ability to adapt to different learning styles, and a deep understanding of Observability principles and methodologies.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on IT Observability, covering a wide range of topics such as monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, metric collection and alerting mechanisms.
Design training materials, including presentations and hands-on exercises, to effectively convey Observability concepts, tools, and techniques to diverse audiences.
Customise training content based on the specific needs and skill levels of different teams and individuals within the organisation.
Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions, workshops, and seminars both in-person and virtually, ensuring that participants understand and apply Observability principles to real-world scenarios.
Provide hands-on guidance and support to participants, assisting them in setting up and configuring Observability tools, interpreting monitoring data, and troubleshooting system issues.
Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Observability technologies, ensuring that training materials and content reflect the most current Maersk standards and best practices.
Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather insights, validate training content, and incorporate real-life examples into training materials.
Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback surveys, and practical evaluations, making necessary adjustments to continuously improve the training programs.
Act as a mentor and resource for IT teams, providing ongoing support, answering questions, and offering guidance on Observability-related matters.
Maintain training documentation, including training schedules, course materials, and knowledge bases, ensuring easy accessibility and knowledge sharing among team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience as a trainer or instructor in the IT industry, with a focus on Observability, monitoring, or related fields.
Strong expertise in Observability technologies and tools, such as Grafana, Telegraf, Prometheus, ELK stack or similar.
Deep understanding of Observability principles, methodologies, and best practices, including logging, metric collection, distributed tracing, and alerting mechanisms.
Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and platforms and their Observability offerings.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, concise and actionable manner.
Experience in designing and developing training materials, including presentations, exercises, and hands-on labs.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt training content to diverse audiences with varying skill levels and learning styles.
Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the capacity to assist participants in overcoming challenges during hands-on training sessions. Continuous learner mindset, staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in Observability technologies and incorporating them into training programs.
