How can you make a difference?

Reporting to the Deputy Representative - Programmes, the Chief of Planning and Monitoring will coordinate office wide planning, supporting the Country Programme development process, annual work planning and the annual management plan. The incumbent will ensure that the UNICEF Country Office has useful, valid and reliable information on the situation of children’s and women’s rights and the performance of UNICEF-supported programmes.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Programme performance planning and monitoring.
Situation Monitoring and Assessment.
Programme Performance Monitoring and Knowledge Exchange.
Implementing partnership and contribution management.
Capacity Building.
Coordination and Networking.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Advanced university degree in social sciences, statistics, planning development, planning
A minimum of eight years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: programme development/management, planning and management, monitoring or another related area.
Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
