recruitment of a FINANCIAL ASSOCIATE GRANT

As part of its development, and to strengthen its team, Upright Partners is recruiting a Grant Financial Associate on behalf of Children Believe.
Job location: Ouagadougou.
Work schedule: full-time
Type of contract: Fixed-term contract under Burkina Faso law for one-year (with a trial period of three (03) months), renewable depending on performance.
Starting date: September 2024

I. JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting directly to the Country Office Finance Director, the Grant Finance Associate's primary role is to provide financial, functional and administrative support in the field for all grants and programme activities and to report appropriately. He/she is responsible for the coordination and implementation of programme and project plans by ensuring compliance and reporting on the financial operations of projects, including the preparation of the project budget, financial statements and financial reports for the national office and various projects.

II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure Children Believe's compliance with donor accounting policies as outlined in the financial manual and generally accepted accounting principles;
- Develop, implement and oversee project accounting systems and procedures, including review of Intact's general ledgers, bank reconciliation and accounting reports;
- Lead the preparation of the project budget and detailed implementation plan based on the project agreement, and develop the annual, quarterly and monthly cash budget, including receivables and payables;
- Actively participates in the coordination of CB's financial management, funded by grants and sponsorships;
- Represent the national office of Children Believe - Burkina Faso to current and potential donors on issues related to financial reporting, acquisition and use of donors' financial resources;
- Monitor overall expenditure against the project budget and assist project accountants and partners to properly monitor and document actual expenditure;
- In liaison with the Finance Director, facilitate internal and external audits of projects and programmes;
- Ensure the accurate recording of all transactions with adequate supporting documentation and that all transactions comply with CB and donor requirements by project;
- Provide information, analysis, evaluation and advice to the Finance Director, Project Director and Country Director on issues related to the control and effective use of resources entrusted to CB-Burkina Faso by sponsors and donors;
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annual and final financial reports;
- Ensure that stock control procedures are followed for the purchase of all items in the country;
- Provide the necessary training, technical support and supportive supervision to the project accountant and other staff to ensure a sufficient level of competence for effective financial control and management within the project teams;
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Project Finance Manager; and Comply with all Head Office policies and procedures.

III. Qualifications & Experiences
- University degree in accounting, minimum 2 years in the field of accounting;
- Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in accounting and financial management of grants, analysis of reports, monitoring of grants and financial and accounting compliance of grants;
- Demonstrated understanding of donors, partners and organizational procedures;
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work on multi-donor fund management and in a multicultural environment;
- Ability to quickly grasp and understand various budgeting and reporting models;
- Strong computer skills, advanced MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel: Particularly the use of data analysis formula and pivot table) ;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics accounting software, knowledge of Sage Intacct would be an asset;
- Ability to communicate fluently orally and in writing in English and the local language(s) of the country.
