Vacancy Announcement: Mechanic

Location: Goulamina, Mali



Reporting Relationship: Mechanical Superintendent

We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Mechanic to join our team at the Goulamina project site in Mali. As a Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the mechanical safety and maintenance of all site installations and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of internationally recognized mechanical standards applicable to an industrial processing environment.



Position Purpose:



The Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative and breakdown maintenance activities to optimize the plant utilization while prioritizing safety and quality standards. This role involves troubleshooting and maintaining a variety of equipment associated with the project, fostering a collaborative team environment, and providing guidance to apprentices. The Mechanic will also contribute to the development of production and maintenance strategies through regular planned maintenance.



Responsibilities:



- Utilize safety-conscious, methodical, and practical mechanical work practices to optimize plant utilization without compromising quality or safety.

- Troubleshoot and maintain various equipment associated with the project, including crushing and classification screening, magnetic separation, floatation, filtering, stacking, pumps, pipework, and valves.

- Foster a positive team environment and provide training to apprentices to pass on extensive knowledge.

- Participate in planned maintenance of the plant, understanding broader production and maintenance strategies.

- Ensure compliance with best practice works orders and safety documentation, and suggest improvements.

- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, refurbishments, and maintenance planning of all mechanical equipment and plant.

- Monitor, follow up, and address issues related to planned and unplanned maintenance tasks.

- Assemble machinery, structures, and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.

- Interpret diagrams, drawings, specifications, and plans.

- Diagnose and repair faults in tools and machinery and conduct regular maintenance and inspections.

- Be available for shift rotations, including night shifts, if required.

- Train other personnel or apprentices as needed.



Position Holder Requirements:



- Certificate in fixed plant Mechanic Trade qualification or similar is essential.

- Specialized training in maintenance of critical equipment such as air compressors, crushing circuits, and milling circuits is preferred.

- Post-Trade experience of 2 years in an industrial processing environment is preferred.

- Basic to intermediate computer skills are preferred.

- Slinging and Rigging experience is preferred.

- SIS and ET knowledge is highly regarded.

- Ability to work autonomously if required.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Strong time management skills.
