To plan and manage field operations to ensure the effective and efficient
deployment of food assistance programmes and use of allocated resources and government capacity-strengthening activities.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Field Operations, the Head of Field Office will be responsible for the following duties:


Management of Field Office:

o Effectively plan and manage WFP’s overall operations within the Field Office jurisdiction, including implementing WFP Country Strategic Plan activities per the agreed overall plan.
o Supervise field-office staff. Provide guidance to them, act as a point of referral, and assist them with analysis and queries.
o Ensure the safety and security of WFP staff, operations, equipment and vehicles in the Field-Office.
o Maintain the field-office petty cash and sub-imprest account expenditures.
Regular Implementation, Monitoring and Reporting:
o Provide project management support to specific and defined programmes and projects of small to moderate size that are relatively straight forward in nature, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
o Conduct field visits to programme sites, engage with beneficiaries, assess implementation challenges, and recommend improvements.
o Follow data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
o Contribute towards the development of a limited number of projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidance.
o Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
o Liaise with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects.
o Ensure the recommended control mechanisms for cash transfers and food distribution are in place.
Stakeholder Coordination:
o Represent WFP in the field and maintain close liaison/collaboration with government authorities, international and local NGOs, UN agencies, civil society, beneficiaries, and other partners.
o Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working leading to improved food assistance packages.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
o Prepare situation reports and update for any disaster events in the field.
o Identify priority areas for preparedness and initiate key preparatory activities where gaps exist.
o Strengthen partnerships with standby NGOS (organise training/orientation) and enhance field-level coordination with government agencies.
o Manage the emergency response, including food and cash transfers/distribution, in coordination with relevant key stakeholders in the field.
Support capacity support activities
o Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to prepare for and respond to food assistance needs, e.g. through project management support of learning initiatives.
o Provide capacity support to the overall implementation of the safety net programme under different ministries (e.g., MoWCA, MoF)
o Coordinate with the government’s line different departments in the field.


Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Completion of Advanced University/Master's degree in Economics, International Development, Social Sciences or other related field,

Experience: Minimum Five (5) years of experience with a minimum Three (3) years of professional experience in Programme field.

Language: Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.
