The Job holder will operate with a high degree of independence to ensure that nutrition programmes and policy objectives are achieved in the province. They will be involved in a wide variety of nutrition Programme activities and analytical work, some of which may be of a considerable complexity.

This vacancy announcement is for Pakistani Nationals.

This job will be based in the WFP Provincial Office (PO) Lahore and the job holder reports to the Head of Provincial Office (PO) Punjab.

JOB PURPOSE

To lead the Nutrition Programme at the provincial level, in meeting the nutritional need of WFP beneficiaries.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

Provide technical support and strengthen the quality of nutrition programs, including the Prevention of Stunting (Nashonuma), Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC), and micronutrient deficiency prevention through supplementation and food fortification initiatives.

Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders at the national and provincial levels to develop synergies and partnerships for the successful implementation of the BISP Stunting Prevention Project. This includes maintaining close liaison with IRMNCH & NP, Government of Punjab, Department of Health, BISP Provincial/District offices, and other entities to mobilize eligible beneficiaries at Nashonuma Centers.

Plan, manage, and lead WFP field operations within the area of assignment to ensure effective and efficient delivery of food assistance, resolving daily operational issues promptly to prevent losses.

Ensure a coordinated approach with wider programs/projects that complies with WFP standards and procedures. Provide technical inputs for evidence generation around nutrition-specific/sensitive interventions and support the monitoring, evaluation, and technical analysis of WFP activities.

Prepare status and progress reports, facilitate accurate and timely inputs/reports from implementing partners for M&E analysis, and ensure project cycle deadlines are met. Prepare allocation plans and ensure timely preparation of agreements, MOUs, and FLAs with all partners for quality service delivery through a transparent and competitive selection process.

Coordinate with other units for timely delivery of food to targeted beneficiaries in line with agreed implementation plans.

Contribute to capacity-building activities to increase the effectiveness of relevant government and project staff, including Community Health Workers. This includes organizing trainings, reviews, and other program-related events. Represent WFP at national and/or provincial level strategic consultations, contributing to discussions, exchanging experiences, advocating, and positioning WFP. Identify areas of potential collaboration and partnerships wherever possible.

Establish and maintain operational partnerships to identify opportunities for collaborative approaches and initiatives that improve the nutrition situation in the country.

Incorporate gender perspectives in all areas of work to ensure equal participation of women.

Support the establishment of a risk management plan for successful project implementation, advising on effective application and developing appropriate systems to monitor and implement improvement plans.

Evaluate, develop, and recommend procedures, participating in discussions on new/revised practices.

Lead WFP's components of specific initiatives within the Benazir Nashonuma Program, including CMAM complementarities, SBCC roll-out, and micronutrient deficiency prevention among adolescents.

Guide the Nashonuma Team, acting as a point of referral and supporting them on more complex analysis and questions

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Advanced University degree in Nutrition, Health or MBBS and/or First level university degree in Nutrition, Health with additional two years of experience in the relevant field.

Experience: Five (5) years of professional/managerial experience in Nutrition, preferably some experience in Punjab province, and in implementation of national/international development programmes. Preferably in an international organization and/or UN system.

Experience working in public health/food security/ nutrition related activities in Punjab.

Experience in analysis of nutrition initiatives in the province.

Has technical knowledge of working with Punjab government and key departments.

Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.

Leadership and teamwork abilities.

Good analytical, negotiation, communication, and advocacy skills.

Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan, and manage programmes, as well as to impart knowledge and capacity building on Stunting prevention, CMAM, MIYCN and NIE skills.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.

Current knowledge of the latest Nutrition developments in the field (emergency nutrition, CMAM, stunting prevention, micro-nutrient, childcare practices, infant feeding, policy development).

Development of workplans against strategy and monitoring

Willingness to travel and work under difficult conditions.

Language: Fluency in English language and the duty station’s language.
