REGIONAL CHILD PROTECTION IN EMERGENCIES SPECIALIST
The role

Child Protection (CP) is a key strategic priority of Save the Children in West and Central Africa region and particularly in conflict affected areas of Sahel, DRC and Nigeria. The Regional CPiE Specialist will play a key role in strengthening SCI’s CP categorised emergencies and programming conflict affected areas through technical assistance, capacity building, and surge capacity. A particular focus will be given to Centrality of Protection roll out and mainstreaming. The post-holder will also serve as SGBV focal point, ensuring technical support appropriate prevention and response interventions in humanitarian and nexus contexts. The role will contribute to building capacity and fostering networks across country office technical experts. The role supports regional advocacy and influencing, and contributes to strategic partnerships for new business development. The role provides support to the sourcing of technical assistance for country office in both emergency and development programming. This role includes a strong focus on internal coordination and strengthening child protection systems.

During humanitarian emergency and/or gaps in CO technical teams, the post holder is expected to deploy for a period (to be determined) to affected countries and work outside the normal job description and to vary working hours accordingly. Surge capacity is expected to represent 50% LoE.

QUALIFICATIONS /EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years of relevant work experience
Advanced degree level qualification in Gender, Child Rights, Social Work, International Law, International relations or equivalent
Additional training in Child Protection, Child Rights, Migration and Humanitarian assistance
Computer literate with full command of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability and the desire to travel to remote and insecure project locations
Working knowledge of French and English, written and spoken
Strong skills and expertise in child rights-based approach to Humanitarian Assistance and SGBV
Leads on Child Development and well-being in humanitarian and Nexus contexts
Supports the development and implementation of strategies, approaches and tools for the prevention and response of violence, abuse and neglect against survivors and children affected by conflict
Collaborates with other actors in order to ensure access and quality services for survivors and children affected by conflict
Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.


Contract length: 12 months

Location : In one of the following countries: Mali, Burkina Faso, DRC and Niger
