UNICEF Malawi Country Programme (2019-2023) is aligned with the Government of Malawi’s Growth and Development Strategy (MDGS III) and the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). The programme supports the Government of Malawi to meet its commitment to respect, protect and fulfil children’s rights in line with international conventions and standards. The country programme is guided by the principles of children’s rights, equity, gender equality, inclusion and resilience, and supports evidence-based, integrative and innovative programming. The vision is that ‘all girls and boys in Malawi, especially the most disadvantaged and deprived, realize their rights’. The programme focuses on: early childhood (parenting, high-impact social services, early stimulation and learning), middle childhood and adolescence (learning, multi-sectoral services, active citizenship), communities (decentralized services and systems, community ownership, social norms), programme effectiveness (monitoring, evaluation, HACT, Innovation, Social Protection and Social Policy and External Communication. The programme is based on ‘leaving no child behind’, realizing ‘rights for all children in Malawi’.

UNICEF Malawi’s Supply and Procurement unit lies within the Operation section and aims to support the office’s mission and strategic plan by enabling programme and operational effectiveness and efficiency through regular supply chain service and emergency response. As our Supply and Procurement Manager, and guided by UNICEF’s Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action (CCC), you will be responsible for strategically overseeing the supply chain operations which include planning, supply and procurementcontracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport and distribution, as well as monitoring of supplies and services.

The Malawi Country Office offers an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for you to join our dynamic Supply and Procurement as well as the Operations team where you will be at the forefront of managing, leading and supporting the Supply and Procurement function and the team, including strategic, technical, advisory and operational support to the office to achieve results for children. In your role, you will report to the Deputy Representative Operations with an general guidance and directions of the Regional Supply and Procurement Advisor. You will partner closely with programmes in defining supply interventions to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children, and work with government, national systems and partners on supply chain management.

This job therefore presents a unique and significant opportunity for a qualified, vibrant, motivated and committed person to contribute to the overall achievement of transformative results for children with professional excellence and by delivering on the following key responsibility areas, but not limited to:

1. Collaborative and agile management of the Supply and Procurement functional accountability area, including leading on the implementation of corporate priorities, strengthen collaboration between programme and operations through co-creation and expanding knowledge to improve results delivery for children
2. Leading the process of the institutionalizing the private sector engagement initiative through programme and supply chain systems, including supply input to donor dialogue
3. Strenthening of the national and sub-national (government) supply chain systems through upstream engagement. 4. Promote critical thinking, innovative approaches and good practices on supply chain management

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

Advanced university degree in Supply Chain, Procurement and Logistics Management, Business Administration, Management. Equivalent educational qualification in relevant areas (transport or logistics operations/management, supply management, etc.)
Equivalent educational qualification in relevant areas (transport or logistics operations/management, supply management, etc.) is desirable
Experience:

Eight years of relevant professional experience in Supply Chain Management. International work experience in supply chain management, logistics, purchasing, contracting,
Work experience in emergency duty station/background in Emergency programme is required.
Experience in System Strengthening of national supply chain is required
A minimum of eight years of relevant professional work experience is required
Experience working in a developing country is considered as a strong asset
Technical knowledge and skills:

Language:

Fluency in English, both strong verbal and written skills, are essential.
