UNICEF Serbia has expanded its collaboration with the business sector in Serbia and positioned itself as a knowledge leader with the capacity to develop and promote children’s rights impact assessment due diligence tools and methodologies, as well as metrics for monitoring, reporting and evaluation. UNICEF has agreed with the leading representatives of the retail, banking and ICT sector to support self-assessment of HR policies and operational frameworks in relation to family friendly policies. UNICEF plans to build capacities of the business sector on the business impact on child rights and raise the business sector awareness on how it could be a transformational factor for the achievement of results for children. UNICEF plans to intensify its collaboration with the key multi-stakeholders mapped in the Situation Analysis of the Private Sector, and to assist in improving mutual accountability for the national development goals as a pathway to leverage the power and reach of the influence of business and business stakeholders.

Work Assignment Overview:

The consultant will support the assessments of the business sector, and further support UNICEF’s work with the business regulatory, policy and investment institutions to achieve sustainable, transformative change at scale through influencing the regulation, due diligence, investor decision-making and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting.

Duration of the assignment: July 2023 – December 2025 (remote, up to 150 workdays)

Task description:

Support the capacity building and awareness-raising of the business sector to take sustainable action to respect children’s rights in all business activities and relationships, through the national presentation of the business and sectoral tools developed globally by UNICEF.
Support the organization of the multi-stakeholder conference on Responsible Innovation in Technology for Children.
Provide expert support in the MOCRIA self-assessment of one mobile industry representative.
Support the capacity building of the banking and finance industry with the presentation of responsible finance practices as developed by UNICEF.
Provide technical inputs to ongoing projects, concepts and funding proposals in the area of business engagement where relevant and requested.
Provide technical inputs for the implementation of the survey on business pledge donors satisfaction with UNICEF’s engagement.
Provide technical support for the promotion of family-friendly policies and practices by reputable members of the business community, positioning them as endorsers of Family Friendly advocates in the public, within the business community and their customers
Provide technical support for the implementation of up to 4 U-Report surveys on the business impact on children.
Provide technical support for the implementation of the marketing campaigns with the different industry groups (financial, retail, ICT) on the “Pay-donate with a good cause”.
Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

Master’s degree in Business Management, majors in corporate responsibility and sustainability are additional asset.
PhD degree would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of and 10 years’ experience within the business ecosystem in Serbia.
Experience with the Child Rights and Business Principles.
Collaboration with UNICEF in Serbia and ECARO will be considered as an additional asset.
Proficiency in English language skills, reading and writing.
Fluency in Serbian language.

It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
