<Job Purpose and Organizational Context>
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is part of the United Nations Secretariat and reports to the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs. Its mission is to mobilise and coordinate effective humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors, alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies, defend and advocate for the rights of populations in need of assistance, promote disaster preparedness and prevention, and facilitate the implementation of durable solutions. As part of its missions, OCHA will have a Humanitarian Advisory Team in Burundi.
In the Republic of Burundi, OCHA’s mandate, in support of the Office of the Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator, is essentially focused on the coordination of inter-organisational humanitarian assistance activities, the management and sharing of humanitarian data and information, mobilisation and management of financial resources and humanitarian advocacy.
From January 2024, OCHA Burundi will change its status from Country Office to Humanitarian Advisory Team and is seeking to recruit two (2) drivers.
Duties and Responsibilities

1) Providing reliable and secure driving services
Ensures the provision of reliable and safe driving services by (a) driving office vehicles for the transportation of officials and Head of the HAT, other officials Proper use of vehicle and visitors; delivering and collecting mail, documents and other items; and (b) meeting official staff and visitors at the airport, including visa and customs formalities as required.
2) Proper use of vehicle
Ensures savings through appropriate vehicle use by accurately maintaining daily vehicle logs, providing input into the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
3) Daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle
Ensures proper daily maintenance of assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arranging for major repairs, timely oil changes, checking tyres, brakes, washing car, etc.
4) Availability of documents/supplies
Ensures the availability of all required documents/supplies, including vehicle insurance, vehicle logbooks, office directory, city/country map, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle. Ensures that all immediate measures required by rules and regulations are taken in the event of involvement in accidents.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Secondary education. Valid category B driving licence.
Experience:
3 years of professional experience as a driver; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs
Please note that continuance of appointment beyond the initial 12 months is contingent upon the successful completion of a probationary period.
Langue: Fluency in French, and knowledge of English is an asset.
