UNICEF Brazil Country office is seeking to engage a Chief of Resource Mobilization and Partnerships responsible for the analysis and management of the relationship with private and global partners and of all fundraising channels and activities, ensuring engaged and long-term partnerships, as well as flexible and unrestricted resources for the Brazil Country Office.

How can you make a difference?

Under the general guidance of the Representative, you will lead and manage a team to design and coordinate effective fundraising strategies, through the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation stages. Working collaboratively with colleagues across UNICEF and partners at the country, regional and global level, you will build alliances or coalitions with external partners to maximizes the CO fundraising potential, including individuals, corporate and philanthropy fundraising.

This includes:

1. Provide leadership and direction in developing UNICEF Brazil's overall Resource Mobilization and Partnerships strategy and implementation frameworks focused on global and private sector partners (including private individuals, philanthropic donors and corporations in Brazil). Provide guidance and direction for planning, implementation, research and analysis of fundraising and building partnerships with global and local private partners. Provide technical support to UNICEF Brazil (including Zone Offices) personnel in hardware and software related problems. This involves troubleshooting ad-hoc user problems and solving it, whether hardware or software related.

2. Provide leadership and supervision to the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships team for all fundraising activities. Establish work plans and budgets and monitor them within the UNICEF financial rules and policies. Identify training requirements to meet staff development needs to meet objectives of the Resource Mobilization and Partnership section.

3. Manage, lead and grow the Individuals Fundraising Programme along with the Individuals Fundraising Manager. Ensure alignment with the PFP at a regional and global level and the delivery of investment commitments. Highlight barriers to achievement of goals and seeks to overcome these barriers.

4. Represent the Resource Mobilization and Partnership team at the Senior Management Team and the Country Management Team and serves as a local focal point for field offices and sections to develop funding proposals and partnerships, coordinate corporate engagement activities, manage the relationships with corporate partners, ensures timeliness and quality of donor reports, plan and carry out partner visits when necessary, promote dialogue and information exchanges, particularly in light of policy decisions that affect UNICEF relationship with all partners at a local and global level.

5. Take an active role in identifying, approaching, and negotiating partner relationships with corporations, foundations and wealthy individuals who may potentially become major donors to UNICEF in Brazil. Design/develop concepts for partners' engagement activities in conjunctions with programme and communications officers.

6. Work jointly with Communications, Programme and Operations to unify projection of UNICEF's image and positioning to UNICEF's supporters and potential supporters and ensure that synergies are created between the different strategies and activities.

7. Supervise the development of fundraising tools (Resource Mobilization kits, communication tools to Brazilian private individuals’ donors (house appeals, newsletter...), program funding requirement documents, partners’ updates, annual report for donors, articles for UNICEF Brazil website). Evaluate and analyze financial and non-financial results from the private sector fundraising channel, checking efficiency of strategies used and suggesting necessary adjustments. Manage the channel with a view of increasing results and revenue.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education - Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Business Administration, Communication, Economics or equivalent, with specialization in Fundraising studies or Marketing is required. Or an undergraduate degree plus at least 14 years of demonstrated professional experience in the field, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Experience - Ten years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in fundraising business and development for leading global companies or organizations, with at least 5 years of individual donors fundraising experience. Previous managerial experience is required.
Language - Fluency in English. Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, or other roman language is highly desirable as the post will require a commitment to achieve fluency in Portuguese (if not already acquired).

Remarks:

Mobility is a condition of international professional employment with UNICEF and an underlying premise of the international civil service.
UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
