The selected candidate must be based in and able to work from any one of the following locations: Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Dakar, Senegal; Douala, Cameroon; Cape Town, South Africa; The Hague, Netherlands.
Reporting to the Regional Compliance Head, the Compliance Manager supports the implementation of the Maersk Compliance Programme focusing on Anti-Corruption and Sanctions and Export Controls at a regional level in accordance with the Maersk Compliance Framework, Global Governance Rules, international best practices and global/domestic laws and regulations for establishing and maintaining a compliance culture across the organization.
You are expected to contribute heavily to the deployment of the APMM compliance programme in the Africa and Europe region and become a focal point for the stakeholders in the various business functions. You are curious, pragmatic and enjoy connecting with people and working in a dynamic, challenging environment. You are also keen on implementing new methods and a supporter of evolutionary techniques.
You should have the soft skills necessary to be a trusted partner to stakeholders in helping them achieve business outcomes in a compliant, legal, safe way. The role requires a strong sense of integrity and personal ethics as well as strong collaboration skills.

Key responsibilities
-Support our regional organizations with compliance advice and solutions with an initial strong focus on anti-corruption, sanctions and export controls (enabling business by being a trusted advisor).
-Provide consultation/advisory & maintain oversight over government arrangements and engagements.
-Monitor compliance regulatory changes in the region.
-Ensure a successful and sustainable adherence to the compliance programme at regional level such as policies and procedures, compliance communication.
-Conduct in-person training to target audience, reporting and investigation of allegations, management of regional compliance ambassador community, periodic testing and reviews.
-Support the implementation of risk mitigating measures identified in the Compliance Risk Assessment for all Maersk-integrated entities in the region.
-Support compliance internal control implementation and effectiveness testing.
-Support the implementation of the compliance programme at any acquired entities.
-Review and comment on third party Integrity Due Diligence reports and where necessary prepare Compliance advice and suggest mitigating measures.
-Provide Compliance inputs for projects/JVs/M&A negotiations and compliance frameworks.
-Lead ad-hoc global compliance initiatives as per annual plan.
We are looking for
-Mandatory education and degree: Bachelor's degree in law or accounting required.
-Compliance professional and experience as a compliance officer, lawyer or internal auditor.
-Ability to draft, review, comment, negotiate, advise compliance clauses in contracts.
-Strong knowledge on implementing and maintaining a Compliance Programme with focus on corruption prevention, sanctions and export controls.
-Experience in conducting due diligence, training and investigations.
-Experience in M&A would be an advantage.
-Excellent interpersonal skills to connect within the team, with stakeholders (including with senior management) and with third parties.
-Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and e-mail applications.
-Experience in process & project management.
-Motivated and detail-oriented with great problem solving and organizational skills.
-Professional report writing and presentation skills.
-Ability to hold a position, yet partnering with the business teams to find solutions to complex issues.
-Commercial mind-set, drive to deliver high quality results.
