Summary:The work schedule for this position is:


Full Time 40 hours per week.

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or his/her candidacy may end.

Duties
This position calls for a range of skills needed to repair and install domestic appliances; such as, but not limited to clothes washers & dryers, gas & electric stoves, refrigerators, freezers, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, water distillers, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, carpet shampooers, etc. Position requires the ability to read the manufacturer’s literature including schematic diagrams; and if not available, find the literature on-line. Must troubleshoot the equipment, repair and/or replace the defective component, reassemble the equipment, and test for proper performance. Position requires knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits, and mechanical devices. Position does not require repair of the refrigerant cycle, however this is desirable. Position requires manual skill with hand tools and power tools. Position requires the physical strength to lift up to 25 kg onto a work bench and move up to 100 kg with an appliance dolly. Must manage a supply of spare parts; but not required to purchase them. Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor or FM.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Two years demonstrated experience is required; minimum one year experience repairing appliances and minimum one year experience in the electrical, electronics, or HVAC trades.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Optional: Good knowledge of basic electrical and A/C principles. Working knowledge with all tools and test instruments required by this trade. Must be able to record information on required documentation, order tools, safety equipment, and materials to support work orders.

Education Requirements:
Mandatory: Completion of high school or local equivalent is required

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Mandatory: English level II (limited knowledge) spoken and written is required. French level III (good working knowledge) spoken and written is required. Post must not list the language level number (i.e. I, II, III, IV) but only list the term associated to the level (i.e. Basic, Good Working Knowledge). English may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Must be able to use the tools and equipment of the trade. Must be able to work un-supervised. Able to read and understand schematic diagrams and trouble-shoot and repair appliance problems. He/she must be able to lift and move heavy objects. Must have good customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
