Under the supervision of the Chief of Education, the Education Specialist is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the education in emergencies programme, ensuring overall efficiency and effectiveness of the of programme management, delivery and accomplishment of programme goals and objectives.

How can you make a difference?
Under the general supervision of the chief of section, contribution to coordination reporting, implementation including monitoring financial side, general monitoring including teamwork, partnership development and capacity building in a sustainable prospective as follows:

Support the preparation, design and updating of the situation analysis to ensure that evidence guides UNICEF DRC’s education in development and emergencies programmes/projects.
Promote the quality of rights-based education programming (emergencies) through participation in the formulation of programme goals, and approaches.
Apply and introduce innovative approaches and good practices to build the capacity of colleagues and partners on education in emergencies
Keep abreast, research, benchmark, and implement best practices in education in emergencies Assess, institutionalize, and share best practices and knowledge learned
Ensure exchange of information, experience, help identify new strategies and courses of action to accelerate/improve delivery of services and achieve Education in emergencies programme requirements and objectives. Conduct field visits to monitor programmes and collect information. Conduct periodic programme reviews with Government counterparts and other partners.
Collaborate with Communication and Programme Communication groups to ensure development of effective communication materials and strategies to support advocacy and social mobilization efforts in the area of education in emergencies, focusing on UNICEF Comparative advantage

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
An advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Education; Primary Education, Peace Building or a Social Sciences fields relevant to international development assistance. A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in education programme planning in development and emergency contexts.
Strong analytical, organizational and writing skills required.
Experience working in complex crises and fragile states desirable.
Background/familiarity with Emergency is required.
Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

Language Requirements: Fluency in French and English is required.
