JOB PURPOSE
The Mozambique Country Office is currently looking for a specialized food security and nutrition officer to support in specific projects currently ongoing. These are:

The Nutrition and Food Security Vulnerability Assessment among People Living with HIV and Tuberculosis in Mozambique. This study is expected to be led by the Government;
A Digital Optimization Tool to develop on how to develop locally relevant and affordable nutritious recipes for the treatment and prevention of acute malnutrition;
The resume of a more direct support to the National Food Fortification Programme, alongside a more proactive role of WFP to the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network in Mozambique (the SBNMOZ);
The Cash for Prevention project, including the impact evaluation component.
The roll out the institutionalization of the Cost of the Diet analysis and of the 2nd National Fill the Nutrient Gap analysis in Mozambique. Both initiatives under the leadership of the Government.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Strong knowledge on food security and nutrition;
Good understanding of nutrition-sensitive food system;
Experience in conducting food security and nutrition vulnerability assessments, including among people living with chronic diseases, in particular, HIV/AIDS;
Experience with Apps and softwares to develop recipes and food baskets such as NutVal, Menu Plus, Optimus, Optifood;
Experience conducting Cost of Diet analysis and FNG;
Experience in research, designing, building, and managing computer and application software;
Understands coding languages, have problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and understand the software development process;

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Study protocol of the Food Security and Nutrition vulnerability assessment among PLHIV approved by the National Bioethics Committee, including a detailed workplan and budget for its implementation.
A project description for the phase II Advanced Tool Creation, including a detailed workplan, timeframe and workforce requirements for each phase of development and a detailed budget.
A value proposition and a proposal of WFP support to the National Food Fortification Programme and a SBNMOZ workplan 2023-2024 agreed with GAIN with WFP responsibilities fulfilled.
Cash for Prevention project rolled out.
Terms of Reference for the 2nd National Food Fortification Programme approved by SETSAN and disseminated among nutrition partners.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: University degree in Nutrition, Food Engineering or Food Technology.

Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Language: Fluency in English and ability to communicate in Portuguese.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Strong knowledge on food security and nutrition;
Good understanding of nutrition-sensitive food system;
Experience in conducting food security and nutrition vulnerability assessments, including among people living with chronic diseases, in particular, HIV/AIDS;
Experience with Apps and softwares to develop recipes and food baskets such as NutVal, Menu Plus, Optimus, Optifood;
Experience conducting Cost of Diet analysis and FNG;
Experience in research, designing, building, and managing computer and application software;

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
WFP offers a competitive compensation package which will be determined by the contract type and selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
