Key Responsibilities
Support site management and frontline teams to identify HSE hazards in their workplace and select controls to eliminate or reduce these.
Support site management in her/his duty to determine the root-causes of incidents and eliminating these, inc. the facilitation of learning teams.
Ensure reportable incidents are reported to governmental authorities in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Facilitate HSE legal compliance by identifying applicable legal requirements and advising site management on the ways in which compliance can be achieved.
Regularly inspect working practices and factors which may affect workers’ health including the state of canteens and housing were provided by Maersk.
Advise site management on the planning and organization of work including: how to eliminate HSE risks though the (re-)design of workplaces and operational activities; elimination or reduction of risks derived from changes to the design of the workplace or the way it’s being used; the prevention of risks through selection, maintenance and condition of installations, machinery, equipment, and tools used as part of work; control measures needed to mitigate risks radiating from substances used or present in the workplaces.
Support HR and site management in measures to support occupational health improvements.
Provide information on training, and education in the field of HSE upon request of site management.
Coordinate and assure the implementation of emergency response capabilities (first-aid, fire, and evacuation).
Act as the contact person to external HSE consultants where needed for highly specialized risk control.
Advice site managers and the Area HSSE Manager on improvements necessary to ensure HSE performance on their site.
Support in managing the country safety leadership program.
Support in managing occupational health, workers’ health examination.
Support in running the emergency action plan in preparation of an accident occurrence in order to save the situation and restore the area after the situation is over.
Plan for and implement the HSE training programs and ensures employees participate in various safety committee meetings.
Implement a Permit to Work System and manage and train relevant personnel.
Report HSSE performance status and relevant issues to the Area HSE Manager.
Ensuring compliance with local regulations regarding transportation, people health, workplace safety, security, and environment.
Conduct regular safety meetings with drivers and review drivers’ hours of service records for accuracy.
Assuring drug / alcohol program is compliant with regulations and company policy.
Conduct maintenance vendors audits to assure compliance with local regulation and company standards.
Establish appropriate plan and policies to safeguard company assets.
Overseeing and implementing the incident management process including coordination of reporting, investigation, documentation, and implementation of learnings.
Provide a comprehensive & accurate monthly report containing appropriate metrics.
Maintains safety files and records.
Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures were indicated and follows up.

Competencies
Good communication skills; mandatory English and French speaking/writing fluency.
Good computing skills: Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
Conversant with relevant local regulation and International HSE standards.
Excellent organizational skills, proactive and dynamic.
Reporting ability.
Analytical Skills.
College degree or equivalent.
Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma/IOSH Certificate or equivalent).
Experience as HSE Supervision/Management.
Experience developing internal processes and filing systems.
Leadership skills and experience is highly valued.
