As our Inland First Mile Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in coordinating trucks acquisition, implementing trucking strategies, and executing cargo delivery from the Port to intra city, intercity, or hinterland. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibilities, ensuring financial success, Gross Profit (GP), and Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT) targets are achieved.
Build strong and collaborative relationships with both established and new suppliers/vendors.
Liaise and prepare transport plans with suppliers, identifying triangulation opportunities for efficiency.
Oversee vendors to ensure excellent customer experiences through timely and cost-efficient delivery.
Continuously improve and optimize Transported By Maersk (TbM) solutions (trucking, rail, Air, and LCL) in Angola
Identify process gaps and actively participate in process improvements to enhance productivity and service levels, ensuring on-time delivery and proactive customer notification.
Contribute to investment decisions and follow up on the implementation.
Drive process efficiency, improve complaint resolution timeliness, challenge business rules/limitations, and enhance end-to-end service delivery.
Identify additional business opportunities upon satisfactory issue resolution.
Approve vendor invoices before processing payments.
Ensure Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) adherence.
Drive compliance and regulatory adherence.
Uphold TbM operation security/IT standards.
Optimize productivity of both owned and vendors’ trucks/capacities.
Manage lease administration.
Supervise maintenance of owned assets.
Participate in contract management with vendors.
Drive adherence to governance frameworks.
Manage overall stakeholder relationships with external partners.
Develop a talent pipeline within the TbM teams in the Area.
Foster engagement and positive relationships while working closely with external partners.
Be accountable for P&L, GP, EBIT, cost-to-serve, and asset utilization.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Has in-depth knowledge of SWA Area Inland First Mile Market.
Proficient in reading, interpreting, and acting on Profit and Loss (P&L) statements.
Strong ability to create clear and concise reports for accurate representation of activities.
Demonstrated ability to work without supervision and exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset.
Proven experience as a team player, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
Successful track record in leadership roles, showcasing effective team management, motivation, and development.
Proficient in managing relationships and collaborating with stakeholders in a matrix organizational structure.
Possesses a keen business sense and strategic thinking for driving commercial success.
Ability to work in diverse and inclusive environments, demonstrating cultural openness and adaptability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders.
Proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relations, understanding their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
Experience in effectively managing change initiatives and projects, demonstrating adaptability and guiding teams through transitions.
Proficient in both English and Portuguese languages.
