ABOUT WFP
The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT & JOB PURPOSE
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) is one of the leading global institutions helping to measure and alleviate malnutrition and has long been involved in efforts to expand the scope and impact of Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF).
Ethiopia envisions by 2030, all preschool and primary school children get equitable access to safe, adequate, and nutritious school meal that significantly contributes to the development of their full potential. To prevent and control micronutrient deficiencies in the country, especially for vulnerable populations, food fortification - the practice of adding one or more essential nutrients to a widely consumed food, enriching its micronutrient intake has become mandatory by law in Ethiopia for selected commodities since June 2022.

WFP Ethiopia has received funding from Bill and Melinda gates foundation (BMGF) for the Strengthening of the Nutrition Sensitivity of Social Protection in Ethiopia. The project is aimed at strengthening the nutrition-sensitivity of social protection and school feeding platforms to deliver fortified foods and a nutrition package of services to vulnerable women and children. The project has three main objectives.

To strengthen the overall enabling and regulatory environment for nutrition delivery through social protection programmes.
To generate evidence on a comprehensive gender transformative and nutrition package to be implemented within the PSNP and SFP
To Increase micronutrient intake for women and children through the delivery of gender-transformative nutrition packages within social protection programmes.
In order, to achieve these objectives three sets of activities were planned

Strengthening regulatory framework for delivery of a nutrition package to PSNP and SFP beneficiaries
Designing of a gender-transformative nutrition package
Piloting delivery of the gender- transformative nutrition package to assess feasibility, cost, and impact on Diversified diet intake.
Additionally, the project implementation requires close linkage with the WFP HQ’s Nutrition project - Mapping and Modelling Inadequate Micronutrient Intake (MIMI) funded by same donor and being implemented jointly with WFP Ethiopia Country Office. Due to the project’s broad outcomes and comprehensive activities, it is required to hire a project coordinator with expertise in the areas of food fortification and policy development to oversee and coordinate the food fortification project.

The Project Coordinator will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and will report to the Stunting Prevention Officer.
