Background

UN Women Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Unit/ Project Background:
In Cameroon, UN Women is implementing its third program for the period 2018-2020 to contribute to the Government's efforts to make Cameroon "an emerging country based on the principle of good governance where men and women enjoy the same rights and participate equitably to its development " covering four themes:

-Women will participate, lead and engage in political institutions and processes
-Rural women secure access to productive resources and sustainable agriculture
-Prevention violence against women and girls and deliver essential services to survivors
-Women play a greater role in and are better served by humanitarian response and recovery efforts

To effectively and efficiently implement the 2018-2020 Strategic Plan for UN Women Cameroon, a comprehensive communication strategy has been put in place. The objective of the communication and visibility strategy will focus on Advocating for Women’s Empowerment, Rights and Gender Equality and increasing UN Women Visibility in Support of Resource Mobilization. Our key expected outcome for communications in Cameroon will therefore be articulated in two key areas:

1) it is envisaged by 2020 that Cameroon’s priority issues are advanced through targeted, measurable and innovative communication that will impact and catalyze change amongst key constituencies.

2) By the end of 2020, UN Women’s brand will be reinforced nation-wide to maintain a positive profile of our activities, our partners and our staff. Internal communication platforms, tools and assets will increase information sharing and collaboration, and strengthen Cameroon’s external communication for resource mobilization.
