Description
The Humanity & Inclusion Making It Work Gender and Disability project has been working alongside women and girls with disabilities since 2014 to support lasting changes aimed at eliminating violence and discrimination against women and girls with disabilities.
Strong of a network of 17 organizations from 8 countries in Africa, the MIW Gender&Disability project articulates its actions at the intersection of gender and disability. MIW has been working on the enhanced inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in gender equality frameworks and gender based violence programmes. We aim at increasing the visibility and participation of women and girls with disabilities in global development policies, monitoring of human rights legal instruments, while strengthening their capacities to prevent and respond to GBV and engage with GBV and women’s rights stakeholders.
The officer is working with the guidance and support of the coordinator. Her role is twofold: the officer contributes to the management of the project and takes a major part of the technical support to the Country Partners, from the Headquarters and through field visits.
This phase of the project will also be focusing on significantly increasing our support to successful GBV initiatives implemented by women with disabilities in West Africa.
The MIW project team comprises 2 positions, a coordinator and an officer.
