Job Description
Background
The Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific (RBAP) of UNDP concentrates its efforts on developing the region’s capacity to promote and accelerate action on its progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It implements the UNDP Strategic Plan in Asia and the Pacific and delivers on UNDP’s partnerships within the region and with development actors in the region. The Bangkok Regional Hub (BRH) of RBAP is the presence which supports the work of the 25 offices in this region.
The Operational Services Team (OST) of BRH is a provider of a variety of time-sensitive operational services to clients of the Hub, the UNDP Thailand Country Office [CO] and other agencies which UNDP supports in Thailand.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Procurement and Administration Analyst, the Driver/Messenger provides reliable messenger and safe driving services.
The incumbent demonstrates a client-oriented, flexible approach and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Scope of Work
The Driver/ Messenger demonstrates a client-oriented approach, tact and ability to with with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
1. Provide reliable and secure driving services using office vehicle for office to programmes and operations staff, experts and consultants, and UN officials and visitors:
Transport authorized personnel;
Backstopping drivers in driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel / meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, attending to visa and customs formalities when required;
Make timely minor repairs and/or arrange for major repairs;
Take all immediate actions required by rules, regulations, and laws in case of involvement in accidents;
Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs, provide inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
Ensure timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.;
Ensure availability in the assigned vehicle of all the required documents, supplies and necessary spare parts.
2. Ensure provision of reliable messenger services focusing on achievement of the following results:
Sorting, delivery and pick up of mail from various offices on the premises at regular intervals. Maintenance of records as required;
Packaging/packing of material received for dispatch, labeling, inserting material in envelopes and franking outgoing mail;
Sorting document; filing correspondence and maintaining required files up-to-date;
Courier of documents to government authorities in enabling key UNDP transactions and protocol matters;
Deliver the visa applications and documents to the appropriate embassy, consulate, or visa processing center within the agreed-upon timeframe;
Checking status of visa process through the embassies’ websites or by telephone and responsible for visa collection on time;
Keeping the office in a nicely and clearly organized system and managing office inventory, supplies and other everyday office deliveries.
3. Perform other duties within incumbent’s functional profile as assigned and deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and Organization.

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful NPSA
Minimum Education requirements:
Secondary Education with a valid driver’s license.
Minimum years of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 2 years (with high school diploma) of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section:
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of driving regulations, rules and laws as well as skills in minor vehicle repair and maintenance is desired.
Experience in the basic use of computers and relevant office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to use web-based management and electronic log, file and/or scheduling systems is desired.
Experience and reasonable knowledge in Thailand MoFA Procedures and Visa Applications is an advantage.
Language requirement:
Fluency in Thai and English is required.
