In line with the Global Communication Strategy and UNICEF Tajikistan’s advocacy, communication and partnerships priorities as well as donor visibility and recognition requirements, this post will support the communication and partnerships section by providing a range of technical, procedural, administrative, and operational support in developing, implementing, executing and monitoring communication and partnerships office plan, ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.
How can you make a difference?
Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:
Communication Associate will support the Communication and Partnerships Section in the development and implementation of the digital and social media strategy, public advocacy, information sharing and awareness raising, behavior change priorities and audience engagement (especially young people).
1. Development, planning and execution of communication and partnerships activities.
• Support the production of communicational materials (e.g. briefing notes, fact sheets, etc.) that meet the country and global standards as set out in the Communication Toolkit.
• Assist in drafting and editing articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials for both web-based and traditional media, as appropriate.
• Assist in organizing activities such as project site visits, press conferences, one on one interview, etc. by making necessary logistical arrangements and liaising with budget focal points and section over costs and needs.
2. Donor recognition and reporting
• Maintain up-to-date donor intelligence platform by uploading relevant information on partners, income trends, and keep donor profiles updated. Consolidate and prepare reports as related to donor information.
• Attend donor and internal meetings and maintain notes and minutes.
3. Budgeting, monitoring and reporting of section results
• Carry out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans and make amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary.
• Facilitate the processing of individual and institutional contracts for the section. This includes preparing and filing documents, completing necessary forms and templates, uploading TOR’s in VISION, and making necessary logistical arrangements. Keeps vendor lists, partners, and consultant rosters up-to-date
4. Working with media, suppliers and partners
• Provide timely and professional quality translations of UNICEF documents, reports, publications and other documents on different subjects from/to English/Tajik/English. Ability to translate from/to English/Russian/English languages (preferable); ensure content accuracy and proofreading so that there are no omissions from the source and/or typographical errors;
• Ensure consistently accurate and high-quality consecutive and simultaneous interpretation from/to English/Tajik/English, as well as English/Russian/English (preferable), at conferences, workshops and other public events. In particular, interpretation support at high level meetings, workshops, conferences and seminars.
• Perform related duties as required.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education:
Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in the area of communication, media, journalism, partnerships relations or other relevant fields.
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of relevant working experience in communication and partnership management.
Hands-on experience in writing, editing and proofreading communication content.
Experience in supporting effective relationship with donor is an asset.
Skills:
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within specified timeframes.
Proven, editorial and writing capabilities in English and Tajik.
Desired Experience
Experience working for the UN could be considered an asset.
Language:
Fluency in English and Tajik is required. Knowledge of Russian is an asset.

UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
