How can you make a difference?

The consultant will support the content creation, review and editing of communication related materials as well as support knowledge management and documentation of results that will inform program planning and implementation.

Under the overall supervision of Programme Coordinator and in close collaboration with the Communication Specialist and the heads of sections, the consultant will undertake the following tasks:
Documentation, knowledge management and compilation of relevant materials
Document the process and lessons learned on three programmatic priorities – learnings in working with municipalities, adolescent development, and social cohesion – in line with UNICEF guidelines and based on desk review, field visits, interviews etc.
Facilitate use of lessons learned in programme planning, design and implementation
Support programme coordination function on particular issue/topic
Revise the current internal document management structure and provide recommendations to continue strengthening internal communication and collaboration among the teams
Based on the document structure and filing system, compile and document all relevant materials for UNICEF programming, communication, monitoring and reporting in UNICEF shared workspace.
Develop guidelines for access to collected materials and future documentation in line with the agreed framework.
Content creation, review and editing of programmatic and communication related materials
Develop communication materials based on UNICEF Refugee Response activities in the Czech Republic, focusing on results and partner communication and programme priorities
Based on technical inputs and guidance, develop, edit, and proofread written advocacy and other communication related materials for the UNICEF Refugee Response programme
Review and editing of developed programmatic reports and other materials for external publication
Develop Human Interest Stories for relevant programmatic results based on field visits and compilation of programmatic information.
Specific deliverables and timeline is included herein below:

1. Develop communication and other materials based on UNICEF Refugee Response activities in the Czech Republic with focus on results and partner communication - Six (6) articles, related social media posts and additional materials developed according to programme priorities (awareness raising, advocacy etc.) Timeline: March - December 2023 - 20 days

2. Edit and finalize written advocacy and other communication related materials for the UNICEF Refugee Response programme (concept documents, advocacy briefs, progress reports, donor proposals and reports, etc.) - Seven (7) advocacy and other documents reviewed and edited. Timeline: March-December 2023 - 20 days

3. Develop Human Interest Stories for relevant programmatic results based on field visits and compilation of programmatic information Six (6) Human Interest Stories developed; Timeline: March-December 2023 16 days

4. Revise the current internal document management structure and provide recommendations to continue strengthening internal communication and collaboration among the teams - Internal document management structure revised, and recommendations compiled; Timeline: March - June 2023; 8 days

5. Compile and structure all relevant materials for UNICEF programming, communication, monitoring and reporting in UNICEF shared workspace based on the document structure and filing system - All materials stored in SharePoint; Timeline: March-June 2023; 12 days

6. Develop guidelines for access to collected materials and future documentation in line with the agreed framework - The detailed guidelines are developed and finalized; Timeline: March -June 2023; 8 days

7. Document the lessons learned for three programmatic priorities in line with UNICEF guidelines and based on desk review, field visits, interviews. - Lessons learned for three flagship programmes documented in line with UNICEF guidelines and based on field visits and data collection. Timeline: May-December 2023 - 35 days

8. Reflect lessons learned and support in programme planning, design and implementation based on close coordination with programme staff; - Lessons learned incorporated in programme plans, design and implementation. Timeline: June-December 2023 - 20 days

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Holder of master’s degree in the social sciences, economics or development studies or other relevant field (a Masters’ Degree with significant relevant work experience (5+ years) can also be acceptable in lieu of Master’s Degree).
At least five year’s relevant experience, preferably in the development/humanitarian sector and with experience in documentation, and external communication.
Proficiency in both English and Czech language
Preferred, knowledge of UNICEF’s Strategic Plan and mission; knowledge of the Czech Republic context

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
